Joseph-Beth Booksellers has been remodeling the upstairs of the bookstore for about a year and all that can be said is wow. New displays, new paint, new seating, new just about everything can be seen throughout the top part of the bookstore. And this is only phase one.
A main focus behind this remodel is to create a more community gathering feel and surround guests with books, gifts, and food.
CEO and president Adam Miller made a speech before their ribbon cutting about bringing literacy back to the area. “As you walk through the store you’ll see that the Joseph-Beth store in Lexington Green will become a place of experience. We are going to have more local and national authors come in our future community space that will be remodeled next year. And we will do many more local joint activities with people where we can learn and teach in the store. Bringing the love of literacy back to life.”
Tables and chairs have been added in the little nooks next to the fiction platform for patrons to grab a snack at the Bronte Bistro and sit at a table to read or work. Giving people a comfortable and quiet place to sit.
Part of the thought process behind the layout of the remodel are to give opportunities for event rental space. Such events like book club meetings, wine tastings, or birthday parties for the little ones in the Kids department.
“We could not be more excited about this new chapter in the story of Joseph-Beth,” says Miller. “We welcome all of Lexington to come and enjoy our new space. Whether you are seeking community, a break in your day to escape with a book in an inspiring space, the perfect gift of delicious meal, we seek to make it a wonderful experience.”
The local bookstore plans to remodel the remaining part of the upstairs with two more phases. They plan to create a more event friendly space in their fiction platform and give the area that currently is Avant Travel into a more library feel.
